Gary Argues Before the Indiana Court of Appeals

On Monday January 10, Gary argued the case of JK Harris, LLC vs. Sandlin.  Representing JK Harris, Gary argued that the trial court erred in refusing to set aside a default judgment and erred in granting class action certification.  The argument can be viewed at http://mycourts.in.gov/arguments/default.aspx?view=detail&id=1148  .  A decision from the Court is expected in the next several months.

Tammy Selected as National Chair of DRI Trial Tactics Committee

Tammy Meyer has been selected as chair for DRI’s Trial Tactics Committee for 2010-2012.  The Trial Tactics Committee is one of DRI’s largest committees. This Committee is dedicated to helping the defense lawyer perfect the skills required to excel as a trial lawyer, advocate, speaker and writer. The Committee focuses on the critical tools its members need to sharpen their skills as an advocate, negotiator and communicator in all settings, whether at deposition, trial, mediation or oral argument.  Tammy’s appointment will be formally announced at DRI’s annual meeting which will be held in San Diego from October 20-24.

PJ Heath Gives Interview on WISH-TV

Gary Gives Keynote Presentation to IBA Bench-Bar

Gary gave the keynote presentation to the Indianapolis Bar Association’s 2010 Bench-Bar conference in Louisville, KY on June 18.  His presentation was entitled “Everything I Know About Legal Legends I Learned in D.C” which followed the theme of the conference which was “Becoming a Legal Legend”.  His presentation was a mixed media powerpoint demonstrating qualities that make lawyers “legends”.  More than 300 lawyers and guests were in attendance.

Tammy Named Top 25 Women Lawyer in Indiana for 2010

Tammy was named one of the top 25 Women Lawyers in Indiana by Super Lawyers as published in the March edition of Indianapolis Monthly magazine.  Tammy has been on this list since 2001.

Tammy Meyer Named to National Women Lawyers Alliance Board

A legal consulting firm has launched a professional network for female partners to assist them in luring clients in what many still consider to be a male-dominated profession.

Launched Thursday by the Cleland Consulting Group, the Women Lawyers Alliance provides members with a referral network, as well as business development training, one-on-one coaching services and advice on specific issues faced by female partners.

Members must be female lawyers who are partners in their firms or have at least seven years of private practice. All members must also be AV or BV rated by Martindale Hubbell, the sponsor of the WLA.

The Alliance is led by a five-member advisory board of female attorneys selected from a range of large and boutique firms across the United States and Canada. Tammy Meyer has been selected a one of the five advisors.

Gary received the IU Alumni Association’s Presidents Award which is the highest award an alumni can receive. Gary was recognized for his work as a mentor and teacher at the law school and his efforts on the Law School Alumni Board.

DRI Sharing Success Women’s Conference

Tammy just returned from the DRI Sharing Success Women’s Conference in Santa Monica where nearly 200 women attorneys from across the United States gathered for educational and networking opportunities. Tammy is serving as the vice-chair this year of the Defense Research Institute’s Trial Tactics Committee, one of the largest committees in DRI. She will be attending the DRI Damages conference in March 2009, which she served as chair of the event in 2008. Once again the event will be held in Las Vegas and close to 300 lawyers are expected to attend. Tammy will also be attending the DRI Drug and Device Conference again this year in New York City in June 2009. See www.dri.org
